Whitby 24nm South East


A very old town famous for its whaling, fishing fleet, James Cook and of course its Fish and Chips. The 13th Century Abbey ruins are an easy landmark, and entry is made through a narrow entrance between the two piers Whitby marina is situated beyond the swing bridge (HW-2 to HW+2 on hour and half-hour). The old town is on the South side of the River Esk. There are numerous restaurants and pubs, also the Magpie Cafe famous for its Fish and Chips, (you may have to queue) There is a large supermarket close to the marina and a small cafe that serves delicious breakfasts.
