'THE LONGSCAR BUOY'
Oh come not near me, tis dangerous ground,
The bones of mariners lie scattered around,
I mark the spot where the brave ones fell,
Come not near me I am the Longscar Bell,
As wave follows wave I rise and I fall,
The higher the roll, the louder the call,
The ones to hear me be the first ones to tell,
When coming towards me, the Longscar Bell,
I'll cease not to sound forth my sad, sad lay,
You can hear me by night, you may see me by day,
Whoever pass by me mark me well,
For danger lies hid near the Longscar Bell,
Then come not near me, come not near,
The young and the old are buried here,
I mark the spot where the brave ones fell,
Come not near me, I am the Longscar Bell.
A Poem written by a lady visiting Seaton in 1864.
