A COUPLE MORE USEFUL WEB SITES

I was sailing the North East coast last year and I met a great guy called Roger. Roger was sailing around the UK in his Sadler 25 called “Jalina”. We got chatting and we ended up sailing in company as far as Whitby, with a few stops between to partake of the amber liquid. Roger has set up a Web site documenting his trip, but has also passed on a really useful Web site for passage planning and it’s full of downloadable information. The sites are oliver@rya-online.net and www.rccpf.org.uk  Editor

OUTBOARD PETROL

A product has been produced by Briggs and Stratton which is designed to reduce the deterioration in petrol, (which sets in after as little as two weeks and can cause starting and running problems). It is called “Fuel Fresh”.  It was designed as an additive for lawn mowers and can be obtained from specialist garden equipment suppliers for a cost of £4.99. Roger Oliver  “Jalina”

SOLAR PANELS & WATERPROOF SPEAKERS

I was out shopping the other day, (I know, how sad can you get)! when I decided to pop into a small Electrical components shop, where  I bought a strobe light for the top of my mizzen mast not so long ago. They had a Solar Panel in the window, so I enquired about the output, and if it was any good in sunny Britain! The answer was that it produced 300ma or 5 to 6 watts, it measures approx. 18” x 13” and the price was £35.00.  They even gave me a demonstration in cloudy conditions and it gave out in excess of 24volts. It comes complete to attach to your battery.  They also sold waterproof speakers, various sizes the ones that I was interested in were 5” and were 60w and the price £14.50 each.   Editor
